Mike Mayko of the Connecticut Post reports that the long-running music show “Polka Celebration” has aired its final broadcast.
“I just couldn’t get the sponsorship,” said Peter J. Danielczuk, who pulled the plug on his Polka Celebration show which aired Sunday mornings at 11 a.m. on WDJZ-1530 on the AM dial.
“Sponsors told me they just don’t have the money now. And I couldn’t keep reaching into my wallet.”
That’s because the bad economy hit Danielczuk doubly hard. In his full-time job, he sells cars at Fitzpatrick’s. Everyone knows what happened to auto sales in the past year.
Until now, one thing was certain in both good times and bad over the past 32 years: Danielczuk would be somewhere on the AM-dial playing Polka music on Sunday mornings.
