Epic Trip Comes To An End

Note: The author is a Boy Scout from Derby serving as a Valley Indy hometown correspondent for the 2010 National Boy Scout Jamboree.

Tuesday we got up early for breakfast so we could spend the last full day on activities here at the Jambo.

Tuesday night we returned to camp to start breaking it down.

We will load all the equipment on the trailer for the trip home. Mr. Stevens brought the trailer to the campsite. We took down our tents and slept under the stars Tuesday night.

This morning we will have a quick breakfast and go through the checkout process. Then its off to King’s Dominion for a day of sun and fun before the long trip home. We are expected home on Thursday morning around 6 a.m.

This has been a tremendous trip. I have met Scouts from all over the country and world for that matter. I have made many new friends from within the council as well as the country.

I have traded patches and got patches from all over the United States. It was so exciting to be part of the 100th Aniversary of Boy Scouts at the 2010 National Jamboree. What was a vast sea of tents housing over 40 thousand scouts is once again becoming just an open field.
