I have read that the city has appealed the million dollar federal court decision in favor of Home Inc. and Valley Housing.
I would like to know what the Board of Aldermen intends to do about it?
Judge Melancon found that the City’s Building Inspector, Ex-Mayor Garofalo and Ex-Alderman Rizzitelli acted by discriminating against supportive housing.
“Discrimination was not only a significant factor but was the sole reason for Derby’s action,” the judge said.
What does this Board intend to do about it?
I think it is prudent to draw the residents of Derby’s attention to the issue. I am baffled that the Board of Aldermen has not even commented on this decision and the liability the City has as a result of it.
I know they were busy worrying about dog poop, buying an Alderman’s house, sitting at the big people’s table and defending their clients at the Board of Aldermen meetings, but I think they should be focused on the issues that affect the taxpaying citizens in the City of Derby.
It makes me wonder, are they aware that Judge Melancon found that the City’s Building Inspector, Ex-Mayor Garofalo and Ex-Alderman Rizzitelli put the City in jeopardy by discriminating against supportive housing?
I waited a few months for the Aldermen to sit in their “big people’s chair” and see if they would focus on the right issues, but to no avail.
What does the Board intend to do about this? Have any of them read the Judge’s decision regarding this important case?
