From the Naugatuck River website:

The National Park Service and partners throughout the Naugatuck River valley are organizing events in 2012 to highlight the progress and potential of the Naugatuck River Greenway.

On September 23, a day-long bicycle tour from Torrington to Derby will celebrate the selection of the greenway as an America’s Great Outdoors (AGO) project by the Department of Interior.

Explore the Naugatuck! will highlight existing trails, recreational access to the river and promote the big-picture vision of what this greenway can be some day. A core group of cyclists will ride the entire route, to be joined in each town and city by local riders.

Scheduled stops will celebrate emerging greenway elements with local and state officials. Cyclists will stop for lunch in Waterbury to support Waterbury Bike Day, a city-wide celebration of cycling and healthy communities organized by the YMCA.

In the Naugatuck River valley John Monroe of the National Park Service is providing technical assistance. [email protected]
