A man believed to be suicidal led authorities on a search for several hours Monday near Fountain Lake.
The trails surrounding the lake, which straddles the Ansonia-Seymour border, were closed while emergency personnel from Seymour, Ansonia and state police investigated the missing person case.
Seymour police Capt. Paul Beres said a bloody notepad was found in the woods surrounding the lake. Officers feared its owner had harmed himself.
But, as state police prepared to search the lake with a dive team, Beres said, Ansonia police located the man at another location. He had self-inflicted wounds, but was not seriously injured, Beres said.
No dive teams entered the lake.
The man was not arrested and is receiving medical attention, police said. His name was not released.
