The CT Post Monday landed an interview with the daughter of the man who was riddled with bullets during a violent home invasion on Elizabeth Street Saturday night.
The victim’s 24-year-old daughter tells the Post men wearing dark clothing and masks entered the apartment, shot her father in both legs and his hand — and then fired several shots at her mother, who wasn’t hit.
The Post interviewed the family as they stopped by the apartment to grab some personal belongings. They don’t feel safe at the residence, which is above Altimari’s, an Italian deli on Elizabeth Street.
Derby police told the Valley Indy Monday morning they had not determined whether the victim was targeted. The victim was in stable condition at Yale-New Haven Hospital after the shooting.
Police said nothing from the apartment appeared to be stolen.
The attack happened at 10:20 p.m. Saturday and touched off a manhunt in downtown Derby.
Detectives have interviewed the victim’s family, along with the victim. They were scheduled to interview the victim again with the help of an Albanian translator.
