Update: Fatal Fire In Derby

DERBY — A man is dead after a house fire on Pleasant View Road just after midnight Wednesday (Nov. 10).

The man’s name has not been released. In a social media post Wednesday, Derby police said the man is believed to be the only person who lived in the house.

State and Derby fire marshals are on scene working on the cause and origin of the fire. Identity of the victim and further information is being withheld pending confirmation via autopsy and subsequent testing,” police said.

The Derby Fire Department responded to the fire at 12:22 a.m. at 79 Pleasant View Road.

The first units on scene saw fire coming from the front section of the single-family, three-bedroom, ranch-style house.

Members entered the structure, located and removed a victim while extinguishing the fire,” the department said in a Facebook post.

Firefighters were still on scene as of 5 a.m.

Public records list the owner as a limited liability company based in Shelton.
