ANSONIA — Police on Wednesday said they arrested an 18-year-old woman in connection to the shooting death of a 30-year-old man in July.
Jada Artis, an Ansonia resident, is charged with felony murder, first-degree robbery, first-degree conspiracy to commit robbery, and hindering prosecution. She was arrested Nov. 3, according to a press release from police.
She’s being held at the York Correctional Institute pending a December court date in Milford Superior Court.
Police believe 20-year-old Sahvon Valentine, of Hartford, shot and killed Ansonia resident Abdul-Jalil Humphrey in a driveway on Hodge Avenue in Ansonia on July 14.
Police said Artis is an accomplice who drove one of the two vehicles connected to the crime.
Valentine was just sentenced to a two-year prison sentence for a parole violation. He also has a felony larceny case pending out of Middletown.
Valentine has not been formally charged in Ansonia — but police said they have a warrant and he will be arrested soon.
According to info previously released by police, officers responded to multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired on Hodge Avenue at 1:40 p.m. July 14.
The first officers on the scene found Humphrey, who had been shot several times, on the ground. His car was stolen. Police recovered both Humphrey’s vehicle and a second vehicle allegedly used to transport Valentine to the scene.
Humphrey was an Ansonia resident. He didn’t live at the address where he died, but did have a connection to the property, police told The Valley Indy in July.
As previously reported, Humphrey’s Facebook page showed a man with a sense of humor who was proud of his kids. He was a graduate of Ansonia High School. He was also a video-game streamer, one of the thousands of people live-streaming the popular ‘Call of Duty’ franchise.
