On Saturday (Dec. 19) the Ansonia Police will be hosting our second annual Shop with Santa event at our local Target Store at 20 West Main St.
Last year officers from the department were able to take three deserving families from Ansonia shopping and provide them with gift cards to shop for their families for Christmas.
Donations were received from officers within the department, as well as a generous donation from the Ansonia Police Union and also our sponsor for the event, Target.
This year we will be holding our event once again at Target on Dec. 19 at 8:30 a.m. We are extremely happy to announce that this year we have received an extremely generous donation from the Kamran and Kara Farid Foundation of Wallingford. Because of this donation we have been able to select 15 families from Ansonia to participate in this year’s event.
Below is a small bio about the Farid Foundation that will help us make this year’s event more successful than we thought possible.

Kamran Farid learned the importance of giving back at a very young age. His mother taught their family to help others, even though his family struggled to make ends meet. She knew that giving back, even in the small amounts, could lead to a brighter future for people in need. That is exactly why the Kamran Farid Foundation was created. Kamran will continue to honor his family’s long tradition of taking care of those in need. Kamran Farid is the co-founder of Edible Arrangements and President of Kamran Capital Group.”
This year we will have a visit from Santa as well as coffee and hot chocolate. The children will then shop with their families. After the children shop, volunteers and officers will then go to a wrapping station where all of the gifts will be wrapped and bagged for the children to take home.
Throughout the year families deal with many struggles. It is our hope that this small gesture can help these 15 families enjoy a less stressful and happy Christmas season. This event shows what community, police, Target, Aquarion Water Company and the Farid Foundation can do to help our friends in our community.
