Fifth Annual 5k Road Race And Fun Walk Is August 24

Wesley Village is proud to host the fifth annual benefit 5K Road Race on Saturday Aug. 24 starting at 9 a.m.

The 3.1 mile race will begin and end at Wesley Village in the parking lot for Crosby Commons at 580 Long Hill Ave. in Shelton.

There is a fun walk that takes place around the campus of Wesley Village. This year marks the first year for a kids fun run. It begins at 8:30 a.m. and costs $5 per child under the age of 13. There will be a bounce house for the kids to enjoy as well.

Awards will be given to the overall first place male and female finishers and the top three male and female finishers in each of the following age groups: Under 13, 14-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79* and 80+*.

Delicious post race food will be provided by Wesley Village for everyone participating. Event parking will be at Long Hill Elementary School, 565 Long Hill Avenue, across from Wesley Village.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the award winning programs at Wesley Village, including the “Journey of Dreams Program,” which grants wishes to the seniors on campus.

A portion of the proceeds will also benefit Spooner House in Shelton, providing food, shelter and services for the needy in the lower Naugatuck Valley.

Participants who pre-register by Aug.19 pay $20 and are guaranteed a commemorative T-shirt and will be automatically entered to win a special drawing for prizes.

*70+ entries run for free, but please contact race director prior to the event.

Starting Aug. 20 and on race day, registration will be $25, only exact bills or checks will be accepted. Checks payable to UMH Road Race.
