“The Walk for Kids is all about the kids, and all about the walk! Lace up your sneakers and join us at The Slab/Veteran’s Park in downtown Shelton. We’ll start with the half-mile path around the park, a smoothly paved loop with red brick, shaded with both adolescent and mature trees and an open stretch to catch plenty of sunshine. The route will continue on to the Derby Greenway, which extends from the Shelton-Derby bridge to BJ’s Warehouse. Return to Veteran’s Park, and the route will be a 5k.
Prizes will be awarded to the top individual and the top team fundraisers. Pledge forms may be downloaded by clicking the “I Want to Walk!” button above, or picked up at the Shelton or Ansonia clubhouses, or contact Ann Wheeler at AnnWheeler@BGC-LNV.org, 203 – 924-7462. All pledge forms and money should be brought with you the morning of the walk.
Our top individual fundraiser last year was Stephanie Danka, who raised $450. Her prize was a Nikon Cool Pix camera.
Our top team fundraiser last year was our Shelton Clubhouse. Together, our walkers raised nearly $2,000 to support our clubs! Their prize was a catered buffet lunch for 20 from David M. Grant Catering.
