Beacon Hose Co. No. 1 (a volunteer fire department) is collecting items for the victims of Hurricane/Tropical Storm Harvey.
From the fire company’s Facebook page:
We are seeking donations until Wednesday night at 10 p.m.
Beacon Hose as an organization will not self-deploy any emergency crews to Harris County, Texas, but we have several members who have made contacts with emergency shelters in that area, and those members will be volunteering their own time to bring the supplies we collect to the greater Houston area starting Thursday morning.
They will not act in an emergency capacity, but this trip to bring much-needed supplies is something they feel very strongly about, and we are happy to be the designated location for your donations as they prepare to leave on their own. We are also part of the Region 5 team that could potentially be deployed for emergency operations if dispatched by higher agencies.

We are seeking donations with which we can fill their trailer. These can include non-perishable foods, bottled water, socks, underwear, dog and cat food, diapers, baby formula, and hygienic supplies. Monetary donations should be made through the American Red Cross.
These donations can be dropped off at Beacon Hose until 10 p.m. on Tuesday, and from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Wednesday.

The fire department is at 35 N. Main St. in Beacon Falls.
If you can’t make the trek to Beacon Falls, The Derby Fire Department says its members will collect goods and get them to Beacon Falls for you.
“Paugassett Hook and Ladder Co. 4 on Derby Ave (Route 34 near St. Michael’s Church) will be a drop-off spot for supplies Wednesday night, August 30 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Please drop off your donations at the front entrance to the truck floor.”
