SHELTON — A police officer on his way to work spotted a house fire at 184 Meadow St. Sunday.
Officer Michael Kichar saw smoke coming from the house at 6:55 a.m., according to police.
“Officer Kichar called in the fire and then was able to wake and alert the residents of the home and help them and the family dog escape,” police said in a statement.
The fire quickly consumed the house, despite the efforts of Shelton firefighters and firefighters from surrounding towns.
Luckily there were no injuries.
The fire was deemed under control at 8:23 a.m. and the fire marshal’s office is investigating the cause and origin.
