No injuries were reported after a fire inside a residence within the Riverside Apartments on Olson Drive Friday.
The fire was reported at 11:56 a.m., according to Ansonia Fire Chief Ron Burgess, Sr.
Firefighters first on the scene saw heavy smoke coming from a window.
The tenants were already outside the apartment when firefighters arrived.
Damage was limited to the single apartment, which was gutted in the blaze.
It took firefighters about 15 minutes to get it under control, Burgess said.
The fire started inside a bedroom. The cause is under investigation by the Ansonia Fire Marshal’s office.
The family who lived in the apartment were in the process of moving out, Burgess said.
Luckily, most of their possessions had already been hauled out.
No other families within the three-story structure were displaced due to the blaze.
