SHELTON — Three families were displaced Tuesday after fire tore through three units within a condo complex at 473 Mica Court. No injuries were reported.

The fire was reported at 5:06 p.m. The first firefighters on scene were there within two minutes and saw heavy fire coming from the middle condo unit of three, according to a press release from the Shelton Fire Department.

Within minutes, fire had extended through the attic of both adjoining units. All occupants were able to successfully evacuate the three units prior to the arrival of FD. As apparatus arrived, they were given assignments and locations of hydrants for water supply,” Shelton FD said in a prepared statement posted to Facebook.

It took about one hour to extinguish the flames, and units were on scene for hours putting out hot spots. An evacuation order was issued for one of the units at 5:37 p.m. because it became too dangerous to remain in the structure.

The fire was declared under control at 6:15 p.m.

The fire marshal and the state fire marshal’s office are investigating the fire’s cause and origin.

The Red Cross was called to the scene to help provide temporary shelter for the three families.
