Update: As of 7:30 p.m. Monday, firefighters were at the scene of another brush fire in Shelton.
This one was along train tracks next to the Housatonic River, between Riverview Park and the Boys and Girls Club. Firefighters weren’t too worried about it Monday, but were having a bit of a hard time getting to it due to its location.
Original post from Monday afternoon follows:
Shelton firefighters were kept busy Monday afternoon — after a small brush fire broke out on Leavenworth Road and a possible gas leak was reported on Bridgeport Avenue.
The brush fire was reported in the White Hills section of Shelton at about 2:30 p.m. Monday.
Volunteer firefighters responded and were able to put out the fire, which was smoldering in the trees on side of the road near the intersection of Maple Avenue.
As firefighters finished up at the scene, they received a call of smell of gas at the Enterprise car rental shop on Bridgeport Avenue.
Firefighters investigated the building, and found no evidence of gas inside, firefighters at the scene said.
