Is there a hero in your life, past or present? Honor them by sponsoring a flag in their name at this inspiring community event hosted by the Derby-Shelton Rotary Club.
Each hero’s name will be personalized on a medallion, which will be attached to a full-size American flag. These flags will be proudly displayed at the Shelton Veteran Memorial Park, Derby Green, Derby City Hall, and the new Derby-Shelton Bridge.
Individuals and organizations throughout our community are invited to sponsor one or more flags to honor their heroes. The following sponsorship levels are available:

“What a wonderful way to show our love for those special people in our lives and to join with more than 100 others in such a moving and demonstrative way. I can’t wait to see all the flags proudly waving in the breeze,” said Linda Holmes-Hannon, Derby-Shelton Rotary Club member and Chairperson for the Flags for Heroes event.
Proceeds from Flags for Heroes directly benefit the Derby-Shelton Rotary Club, which supports the community through special projects and grants to local organizations. In 2023, the Flags for Heroes program provided $2,000 each to the Derby and Shelton Police Departments for the purchase of Individual First Aid Kits (IFAKs) for officers and First Aid Kits for police cruisers — helping to enhance the safety of both officers and the public.
The 2024 proceeds will support the Derby and Shelton Fire Departments with $2,500 donations each toward the purchase of thermal imaging cameras, essential tools that help firefighters locate loved ones and pets in emergency situations.
All sponsors and community members are invited to join the Derby-Shelton Rotary Club for a heartfelt Flags for Heroes ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park in Shelton on June 14th at 11 a.m.
