The following information was submitted by Derby Town Clerk Marc Garofalo. We keep growing in our seventh month thanks to all of you.
With your help, we delivered 225 boxes of hamburger, tuna, and chicken helper and eight cans of potatoes to the St. Vincent DePaul Food Bank today.
If you still have “Helper” please drop it off at City Hall or directly to St. Vincent DePaul Food Bank, 237 Roosevelt Dr., Derby, CT. 203.734.7577
This month we will be collecting macaroni and cheese for the St. Vincent DePaul Food Bank.
For those who may be new to our distribution list, the Derby City Hall staff, in lieu of a Holiday Secret Santa Gift, donated food to the St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry in December.
After discussions with the operators of the Food Bank, we decided that we would start a monthly collection of one specific item to help them feed those in need in our city and the Valley.
In January we collected jars of jelly, in February we collected jars of mayonnaise, in March we collected cans of beef stew, in April we collected baked beans, in May we collected pancake mix and syrup, in June we collected canned and boxed potatoes and in July we collected hamburger, tuna, and chicken helper.
It’s August and summer is halfway over and we continue to help feed our neighbors.
Please consider donating a box of macaroni and cheese and bring it to the Town / City Clerk’s Office by the end of August and we will deliver them.
We appreciate your support. Thank you and enjoy the summer.
