Bobo Kolakowski’s cooking is back on Ansonia’s Main Street almost two years after closing his eatery, Millie’s II, in October 2012.
Kolakowski, who started working at the Doyle Senior Center in November 2013, is now preparing weekly catered meals for the seniors.
“We’ve made linguine with clams, ravioli with pasta sauce, meatloaf,” Kolakowski said Thursday, as he served chicken Parmesan to a line of seniors. “They haven’t had the same meal twice since we’ve been doing it.”
Kolakowski said he started offering the $4 meals on Thursdays to help draw more people to an otherwise slow afternoon at the center.
“We have bocci in the morning, but then everybody goes home,” Kolakowski said.
He said 50 to 60 people usually attend the lunches.
“I think it’s great,” said Zena Fasciano, 90, of Ansonia. “I don’t have to cook.”
“And it’s cheap,” addedMary Burleigh, 91, of Ansonia.
The center sometimes includes entertainment, as it will on Thursday, June 19.
