Four More Arrests In Ansonia Drug Probe

FILEAnsonia police arrested four people on drug charges Wednesday after raiding a home at 74 High St. in Ansonia for the second time in two months.

Two of the people are already facing drug charges after the first raid on June 1.

Police said they found cash and drug paraphernalia at the home on Wednesday, after conducting a search at 3:45 p.m. with agents from the United States Drug Enforcement Agency.

Police arrested one person at the house — Kassie Zimmerman, 25, of Waterbury.

At the same time Wednesday, police served three arrest warrants after stopping a car on Maple Street, according to a press release issued by Ansonia Police Thursday morning.

The three people arrested were: Roosevelt Scott, 23, of Waterbury; Thomas Hailey, 28, of Waterbury; and Brittany Gilliams, 22, of Waterbury.

The suspects were previously identified by police in a search warrant as part of a large-scale drug dealing crew, identified as the “Zimmerman family and their associates.”

One of the main targets of the Ansonia Police investigation — Javon Zimmerman — was shot and killed in front of a Derby bar in May. The suspect in that shooting — Cordaryl Silva — has been identified as an informant in the Ansonia police investigation.

“This action once again shows that this department continues to take aggressive actions against those who desire to sell drugs in Ansonia,” Ansonia Police Chief Kevin Hale said in a press release.

“Several of these suspects were arrested in the Valley-wide raids of June 1st of this year, yet they gained their release from jail and continued to conduct business in Ansonia and throughout the lower Naugatuck Valley,” Hale said. “We will continue to use whatever tools and efforts necessary within our authority to dismantle this organization.”
