Seymour Public Library
The Seymour Public Library invites you to celebrate the season with a free Celtic Concert on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at the library. Deirdre McMorrow and Paul Pender will provide music for the event.
As this is their third performance at the library, Deirdre and Paul are like old friends to many of us.
Deirdre McMorrow is an accomplished traditional Irish fiddler, and Paul Pender is an accomplished singer/songwriter/guitarist who hails from Ireland. Light refreshments will be served.
All are welcome to this free event. Registration is not necessary. Seating will start in the library programming room at 1:30 P.M. with the music to start at 2:00 P.M.
The event will take place at the Seymour Public Library as construction is complete. Funding for this concert is provided by a generous grant from the Katharine Matthies Foundation. Katharine Matthies, and her brother, Bernard Matthies, are very important to the Seymour library building that sits on the hill. After the previous library building was destroyed in the 1955 Connecticut Flood, Bernard Matthies donated the land on which the current Seymour Public Library stands. Katherine Matthies donated thousands of dollars to the construction of the 1958 building. We hope to see you there.
