Tavern Permit Is Revoked
SEYMOUR— The restaurant liquor permit held by William Arnbirst, proprietor of the Bridgewater Tavern at 48 Second St., has been revoked by the state liquor control commission on a charge of possession of alcoholic liquors on the bar and in the kitchen during a 30 day suspension.
Eleanor Healey Bride Today Of Lester H. Hale
ANSONIA — Before an altar decorated with snapdragons and palms, Miss Eleanor Christine Healey of 52 Grove St. became the bride of Lester H. Hale, son of Mrs Nellie Hale of 64 Skororat St. Seymour this morning at 10 o’clock at the Church of the Assumption.
Mrs. Pedbereznak Died Last Night At Her Home
ANSONIA — Mrs. Mary Demaniowich Pedbereznak, wife of Samuel Pedbereznak, prominent business man, died last night after an extended illness. Mrs. Pedbereznak was held in high regard by a wide circle of friends and acquaintances.
Colorful Prom Attended By 100 Couples
DERBY — The annual senior prom of the Derby High School was held last night in the AM Club, Hawthorne Avenue. Dancing was enjoyed from 8:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m> to the lilting rhythms of Paul Paschal’s Orchestra.

Two Bad Accidents On Route 8, Ansonia Man Hurts Ear In One
ANSONIA — A car driven by Edward Stebar of Seymour failed to negotiate a curve on the lower road on route 8 this morning at 1:30 o’clock skidded 350 feet, climbed a sidewalk and narrowly missed striking the Geydar house as it hit and damaged the south corner of the garage.
Motorist Arrested For Passing Stop Sign On North Main Street
ANSONIA — William Allen, 38, of Chappaqua, N.Y. was arrested by Patrolmen John Connor and John J. Foley and booked on a charge of violating motor vehicle laws. He was released on $100 bond.
Finance Board To Meet At City Hall
ANSONIA — The board of apportionment and taxation will hold a special meeting tonight at 8 o’clock in the Aldermanic chamber in the city hall to consider an appropriation of funds to build an addition to the Pine manual training school, to house the woodworking department.
Police Seek 40 Hour Work Week
ANSONIA — A petition is being circulated among the regulars of the Ansonia police department seeking a 40 hour work week. They currently work 48 hours a week with one day off.
Pair Fined For Carrying Knife
DERBY — Henry S. Gross of Seymour was charged with carrying a dangerous weapon in the form of a knife with a blade longer than four and one half inches.

Existing Rules Allow Board To Hire Superintendent For Three Year Term
ANSONIA — In an opinion presented to the board of education at its meeting last night, the corporation counsel ruled that ‘under existing rules a superintendent of schools may be appointed for a three year term.’
Recreation Camp To Open Friday For Swim Lesson
DERBY — The Recreation cCamp on the Housatonic River will open for the season on Friday.
Street Department Is Kept Busy
DERBY — The street department under the supervision of street commissioner John Benanto is engaged in building a catch basin and drain at the corner of Emmett Avenue and Mountain Street.
George Osborn, Former Shelton Resident, Dies
SHELTON — George B. Osborn, former resident of Shelton and shipping clerk in the former Graham Manufacturing Co., died today in the Manchester convalescent home after a brief illness.

Pay Telephone
DERBY — The board approved the installation of a pay telephone booth in the Derby High School, with the provision that such installation be approved by corporation counsel David B. Cohen.
Seymour Grants Southbury Permission To Send Students
SEYMOUR — The Seymour board of education has granted approval of the request of the Southbury board of education to send 75 to 100 tuition pupils from that town to Seymour high school for the year 1950 – 51.
