Helen Howard Dies
ANSONIA
 — Miss Helen Howard, for 30 years an esteemed and respected resident of this city, died at 1 o’clock in the morning at the home of her sister, Mrs. Michael Fleming of Sixth Street with whom she resided. Miss Howard gained the friendship and acquaintance of a wide circle and all who knew her are grieved and regretful at her demise.

Right To Operate Denied 2 Autoists
DERBY
 — The reckless manner in which they were driving automobiles on Hawthorne Avenue ten days ago brought a suspension of their licenses for two men by the Department of Motor Vehicles in Hartford.

Board Of Apportionment Will Get Together Its Act On Olivia Street Matter
DERBY
 — The board of Apportionment and Taxation have been called to a special meeting next Friday evening at city hall by Mayor Frank J. Conway. They are meeting to take up the matter of Olivia Street repairs, a job the Aldermen put out to bid after waiving the bid process.

Beloved Resident Dies Yesterday
SEYMOUR — Mrs. Patrick Sheehan succumbed to heart trouble at her home.

It Was Time
ANSONIA — Those driving through Bank Street to the Ansonia railroad station missed something yesterday. The crippled Ford coupe which had been by the north curb just where one would turn to the east side of the station platform for so long that it seemed almost as much a fixture as the cobble stones, was gone.

OXFORD — Mrs. Mary E. Shelton of Quaker Farms has been visiting relatives at Easton.

July 12, 1928

Skull Fracture In Flagpole Collapse
ANSONIA
 — Benedetto Faggina of Hodge Avenue received a skull fracture shortly before 11 a.m. when a 50-foot flagpole fell on her in the back of the branch office of American Brass.

Miss Howard Buried
ANSONIA — Funeral services were held this morning for Miss Helen Howard. The Mass was at Assumption Church. The church was filled with mourners and beautiful floral arrangements.

Horse Racing Postponed At Island
DERBY — People who planned to spend Labor Day watching horses race around the Island Park track are doomed to disappointment after the New Haven association sent word one of the organizers fell ill.

City’s Lone Junk Dealer Loses Horse
DERBY — Monsour Sadick of Camptown who some weeks ago was arraigned in the city court for alleged purchasing of junk from some small boys, and who was fined for the offense. This time Sadick was brought to the police station upon complaint of representatives of the Connecticut Humane society charged with cruelty to animals. Sadick was accused of using a horse with two bad legs to haul his junk.

Red’ Derosa To Box Tomorrow
DERBY — Johnny Red’ Derosa is slated on the amateur boxing card at the arena in New Haven for Friday night. His opponent has not been assigned but it is likely it will be a real boxer.
