The Oxford 12-year-old baseball Babe Ruth team won the state championship last week, going 4 – 0.
They played with their heart and soul, and showed great sportsmanship.
Here is a look at how they accomplished it:
- July 5 they played Bridgeport and won 2 – 1
- July 6 they played Newtown and won 14 – 1
- July 8 they played Danbury with a winning score of 8 – 7 and on July 10 Oxford beat Newtown in the Finals 4 – 0 to capture the State Championship.

The boys have spent the past five days fundraising to raise money for the Cap Ripken Regional Tournament being held in Raynham, MA, the tournament begins on July 18.

A $10 donation at the door enters you into a door prize for Bridgeport Bluefish Luxury Suite (20 tickets) for Sept. 12, a $400 value.
A silent auction will start a 7 p.m. and we will have some amazing donations being raffled off starting at 9 p.m.
