Girl Scouts Collecting Items For Emergency Kits

Oxford Girl Scout Troop 60850 met with Oxford First Selectman George Temple and Emergency Workers, Fire Chief Scott Pelletier, Sgt Dan Semosky, and Trooper Dave Hare to learn about Oxford’s Emergency preparedness plan.

As a part of their Bronze Award, Girl Scout Troop 60850 is collecting items for comfort kits for people who have to leave their homes due to an emergency like Hurricane Sandy or the Blizzard of 2013.

They need the following items to make these kits: face cloths, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors, shaving cream, comb or brush, shampoo and conditioner, deodorant, lotion, small pad of paper, pen, tissues, coloring or activity book, crayons, or small toy.

Items should be travel size so they can be distributed easily by emergency workers.

Drop off boxes are located at the Oxford Library and Town Hall through April 4th or you can contact Vanessa Ort at 203 – 463-8746.
