
Even with the fear and uncertainty created by the COVID-19 coronavirus, neighbors, businesses, and groups are supporting each other in any number of ways.

On May 9, Jessica Napoleone and Kate Taylor dropped off “Essential Cups” which were plastic cups filled with drink mixes, meal bars, teas and snacks for the ARMS crew. Scan Tool & Mold also donated ear protectors, according to the Ansonia Rescue Medical Services Facebook post.


Retro Grub and Pub donated pizzas to the ARMS crew. “Some really great pizza! #RetroBaby,” said the Ansonia Rescue Medical Services in a Facebook post.

Mayor David Cassetti gifted presents to children with quarantine birthdays, according to a City of Ansonia Facebook post.


On May 9 and 10, The Abundant Life Fellowship Ministries of Ansonia was outside of City Hall handing out free coffee and donuts to city residents, according to a City of Ansonia Facebook post.

On May 5, Tipsy Tomato Bar and Pizzeria donated pizza to the Derby Storm Ambulance and Corps, according to a Storm Engine Co./ Ambulance Corps Co. 2 Facebook post.

On May 6, National Nurses’ Day, Mayor Rich Dziekan and his staff worked with Italian Pavilion to provide a lunch for the nurses working at Griffin Hosptial. “Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all that you do,” said Mayor Dziekan in a Facebook post.

Derby seniors expressed their gratitude for healthcare workers with window decorations, according to Mayor Dziekan’s Facebook post.

“Nice 007-themed tango showcasing the Derby Green in honor of our medical and essential personnel. Thank you to those who created this. Enjoy,” said Mayor Rich Dziekan in a Facebook post.

On May 12, Seymour EMS, Seymour FD, Seymour PD, OEM, the Fire Marshall’s office, VEMS, State Rep Klarides-Ditria and Deputy Selectman Drugonis thanked healthcare workers and staff at Shady Knoll Health Center, according to a Seymour Ambulance Association Facebook post.
