Griffin Redoubles Efforts To ‘Vax The Valley’

There are several new opportunities coming up to get the COVID-19 vaccination, the best way to protect yourself from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Children under 12 are not eligible for the vaccine.

These clinics are free.

(Editor’s Note: as of Aug. 9, there’s no single-source website (this is the closest) to get hyperlocal vaccination clinic info, especially with one-day clinics. The information in this post was gathered from individual posts on Facebook, org websites, and email inquiries.)

Fourth Street Vax Clinic, Ansonia

Starting Monday, Aug. 9 Griffin Health will be operating a vaccination clinic at the lower level of 4 Fourth Street in Ansonia (the former Ansonia Community Action building).

The clinic will operate EVERY Monday and Wednesday thereafter, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Every individual who receives their FIRST shot at this clinic will receive a ticket to Quassy Amusement Park courtesy of Griffin Hospital.

And those returning to this clinic for their SECOND shot will receive a $25 gift certificate to an Ansonia restaurant, courtesy of the City of Ansonia!

FYI, Ansonia has had the lowest vaccination rates in the lower Naugatuck Valley since COVID-19 vaccinations became available, despite Mayor David Cassetti’s administration’s efforts to organize and publicize clinics.

Get The Vax At Festa 2021

Holy Rosary’s annual Italian festival is scheduled for Aug. 12, 13 and 14 on the Holy Rosary Church grounds on Father Salemi Drive. The Festa goes from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. each night.

An organizer emailed The Valley Indy and confirmed that Griffin Health will be on hand with a mobile COVID-19 vaccination clinic. All three vaccines will be offered. Anyone under 18 needs to be with a parent or guardian.

Griffin Health will be at St. Vincent de Paul (237 Roosevelt Drive in Derby) for a vaccination clinic Monday, Aug. 16. The hours are 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.
