A Wallingford woman who was accused of stealing more than $10,000 from two Shelton companies she worked for pleaded guilty Thursday in Superior Court in Derby under a plea agreement.
Police said Tammy Granata, 38, used business checking accounts from Health Plan One, LLC and Healthcare Subrogation Group to pay phone, Internet and car insurance bills.
She also made payments on a Harley Davidson motorcycle and paid for her daughter’s school lunch using the business accounts, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
Granata said she got the account numbers from her pay stubs at the companies, and made most of the payments over the Internet, according to the warrant.
Shelton police arrested Granata on July 2, 2009 and charged her with first-degree larceny, third-degree larceny, second-degree forgery and failure to appear.
Granata is currently on probation for larceny charges out of Superior Court in Meriden.
The combined charges could mean up to 30 years in jail, Judge Burton Kaplan told Granata Thursday. Under the plea, she will serve no more than 10 years, suspended after four years, with five years of probation.
She will also be required to make restitution.
According to the arrest warrant, Granata made the payments during 2008 and 2009. She paid about $5,500 to Verizon, about $130 to AOL, $541 to E‑surance and $963 to Progressive Direct Insurance.
Granata is scheduled to be sentenced in Superior Court in Derby on June 3.
