The following letter was submitted to the Valley Indy by Derby Public Schools on behalf of Superintendent Matthew Conway.
Let’s give a big shout out to the DHS National Honor Society who helped build a house of food.
Our students were among a large group of volunteers that gathered nonperishable foods and donated them to the United Way.
On Saturday (Sept. 28) we took part in Harvest House, where a house was built with these items to be distributed amongst the valley food banks.
I was so proud of these kids as they worked together to make our community a better place.
A big thank you to Corri Davies, who volunteered her time as well.
Equally impressive was the appearance of recent graduates, Zach Volo and Tim Garrity, who came home from school to reunite with the United Way and continue their efforts towards volunteering.
Things like this make you proud to be part of Derby High School!
