Hawthorne Avenue Rebuild Is Underway

Derby City Hall announced this week the reconstruction of Hawthorne Avenue started Aug. 21.

That’s from roughly Roseland Apizza all the way down Hawthorne to where it meets Hawkins and Anson.

The project also includes to replacement of pedestrian sidewalk ramps, isolated” curbing improvements and minor drainage improvements.

Additional work is being done at the same time by YankeeGas and the Derby Water Pollution Control Authority.

Derby officials said the project is supposed to be completed by Dec. 1, 2012 — but it is possible the project could stretch into the spring of 2013.

The work will happen between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

On-street parking for business and residents will be limited during the construction activities,” a note from Derby government reads.

YankeeGas has already been digging up slivers of Hawthorne Avenue for several months servicing and replacing gas meters and gas lines.
