A “Go Fund Me” campaign launched Saturday to send seven student-athletes from Derby High School to the New Balance High School Outdoor Track & Field National Championships.
The campaign, created by Derby’s Rob Hyder, has a goal of $2,500.
The national championship is scheduled for June 16 through June 18 in Greensboro, N.C.

“Derby High School’s Track & Field athletes have built a tradition of excellence on the track, in the field and in the classroom,” the Go Fund Me description reads. “Not only have these boys and girls hung team championship banners in the gymnasium, they have also earned individual name recognition for their accolades, as well.”
The boys’ team recently won the NVL Track & Field championship after compiling a perfect 14 – 0 regular season record.
The girls’ team completed the most successful regular season in school history, finishing the regular season with a record of 11 – 3.
“In order to send these athletes to Nationals, we need to raise the money necessary to fund this trip, which includes transportation, lodging, event entry fees and food for our athletes.”
