A 20-year-old heroin dealer from Derby was sent to federal prison for 71 months Friday.
As part of a plea bargain with the government, Bradley Commerford pleaded guilty to distributing heroin to a person under 21 years of age.
The heroin Commerford was selling to Valley teenagers and young people was responsible for several overdoses — including the fatal dose that killed 23-year-old Louis Ahearn, of Derby.
Commerford’s 71-month sentence was the maximum allowed under federal sentencing guidelines.
