First responders from Ansonia, Derby and Seymour launched a methodical search Thursday evening to rescue hikers who had been attacked by bees.

Shelton’s Teresa Gallagher pointed out on Facebook that the culprits were likely wasps.

One of the hikers was experiencing a severe anaphylactic reaction,” according to a Facebook post from Ansonia Rescue Medical Services.

The hikers were eventually found and received medical treatment. Further info wasn’t available.

The search began about 5:15 p.m. after Ansonia crews received a report of hikers needing medical help within the sprawling Ansonia Nature Center property.

The hikers were discovered in an area closer to Route 313 in Seymour.
