Home Heating Assistance Available

State Rep. Theresa Conroy (D‑Seymour, Beacon Falls, Derby) today reminded residents that no one should be left in the cold this winter and help is available through the state’s home heating assistance programs.

Conroy said there are two emergency home heating assistance programs available to Connecticut residents and administered in the Naugatuck Valley by TEAM, the regional Community Action Agency.

If you need assistance, help is available,” Conroy said. TEAM has staff who can help you through the application process.”

The Connecticut Energy Assistance Program (CEAP) is designed to provide low income households with fuel deliveries and have their utility heating costs defrayed.

For households whose heat is included in their rent, one-time financial assistance is available.

Similarly, Operation Fuel provides emergency energy assistance to households in crisis.

Conroy cautioned residents that it is better to apply in a timely manner.

There is a three day waiting period for heating assistance, even in emergencies,” Conroy said.

More information on home heating assistance is available by calling TEAM at (203)736‑5420.
