A man suffered burns to his hands and arms after a fire broke out at his home at 46 Oakcrest Road Sunday.
The fire department was sent to the house after receiving a 911 call at about 11 a.m., Fire Marshal Scott Pelletier said.
“The fire was contained to the basement, but there was heavy smoke damage on the first and second floors,” he said.
The fire is believed to have started in the area of a propane tank and a heater in the basement. An official report will be available Monday, Pelletier said.
Pelletier could not identify the homeowner, however, GIS Data available on the town’s Web site shows the house is owned by Stephen and Gail Ugolik.

Pelletier said the homeowner was taken to Bridgeport Hospital by the Oxford Ambulance Association.
Pelletier said homeowner’s wife was home at the time of the fire, but was able to leave the house and not injured.
Pelletier added fire personnel had the blaze under control within 30 minutes.
Seymour and Southbury fire departments were called to the scene to assist.
“We needed to call in their tankers because there is no water access in that section of town,” Pelletier said.
