OXFORD — Holocaust survivor Mr. Endre (Andy) Sarkany will be coming to Oxford to share his story in a speech titled “Hope and Kindness in Spite of Hate.” Hosted by Oxford Public Schools in conjunction with Chabad Jewish Center of Oxford, the event is open to the community and will take place at Oxford High School on Wednesday, Jan. 10 at 7:30 PM.
In this moving presentation, the guest speaker will recount his personal experiences during one of the darkest periods in history. Through his firsthand account, he will shed light on the horrors of the Holocaust, offering invaluable insight of the importance of remembrance and education.
Mr. Sarkany’s message is one of hope and kindness. By sharing stories of resilience, courage, and the power of the human spirit to rise above hatred, he will inspire listeners to embrace compassion, empathy, and unity in their own lives.

About Mr. Endre (Andy) Sarkany:Born in Budapest, Hungary on October 31, 1936, Mr. Sarkany lived inside the Budapest ghetto which is where he remained during the Holocaust. With his father taken away to Mauthausen concentration camp in the spring of 1944, he survived the war in an orphanage with 150 other children. Following the war, Mr. Sarkany lived in Hungary until he was fortunate to escape after the October 1956 uprising to the United States. Over the past 10 years Mr. Sarkany has been speaking to audiences throughout the country about his personal experiences during the Holocaust.
