Hot Dog Fundraiser Planned For Family Of Murder Victims

Workers from All-Star Transportation in Seymour will host a hot dog fundraiser for the family of the people killed in a rampage shooting in West Virginia Sept. 5.

The fundraiser will be held on Friday, Sept. 16, at the All-Star Transportation bus yard on North Main Street in Seymour, near the Beacon Falls line. The event will run from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The proceeds will go to help with Clifford Hudson’s living expenses, according to yard manager Stephen Gardner.

Hudson’s daughter, Katrina, 22, and son Kevin, 18, were among five people killed during the rampage.

Katrina Hudson was six-months pregnant at the time. Katrina’s boyfriend Robert Raber Jr., was also killed, along with her mother Karin Richardson and Richardson’s husband, Charles Richardson.

The suspected gunman, Shayne Riggleman, killed himself after the attack.

Clifford Hudson works at All-Star Transportation, but will be out of work for a while because of the tragedy.

Cliff is going to be out of work for a while, and has to pay his expenses and we’re trying to help him out,” Gardner said.

We try to consider ourselves as an extended family for one another. We do what we can to help each other out,” Gardner said. Life is never easy.”

Gardner expects 200 people to attend the event. The price is $5, which includes two hot dogs, a drink and a bag of chips.

The hot dog sale is not the first fundraiser the bus workers have held for Hudson. Last week they hosted a breakfast at the yard and raised more than $700 in one hour, Gardner said.

A memorial service for Katrina and Kevin Hudson will be held at Wakelee Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia, at 7 p.m. on Saturday Sept. 17.
