The members of the Hotchkiss Hose Volunteer Fire Company of Derby would like to thank all of the residents who contributed to our Food Drive this Thanksgiving this year.
The fire company delivered fliers to several streets on Derby’s East Side two weeks prior to the Thanksgiving holiday and the response was tremendous. Over the next two weeks the Hotchkiss Hose, using an old antique fire truck, collected over one hundred bags of food from our neighbors in Derby. All of the food was then delivered to the St. Vincent DePaul Society Food Bank, located on Roosevelt Drive in Derby. In these economic times it is heart warming to know that so many people are willing to give, even if they themselves are feeling the effects of the these hard times.
The Hotchkiss Hose and all of the people who are served by St. Vincent DePaul are thankful that we live in a “giving valley.” Thanks again from all of us, we’ll be here if you need us.
