Housatonic Council Receives Donation Of Nearly $192,000

DERBY — The Housatonic Council in Derby is pleased to announce they are a beneficiary of the Eugenia Bacon Family Trust. The total contribution to the Scouts is $191,963.08 given specifically in the name of Benjamin H. and Eugenia Y. Bacon” for the Edmund D. Strang Scout Reservation. 

Ed Strang Scout Reservation is owned and operated by the Housatonic Council, Boy Scouts of America and located in the foothills of Litchfield County. Camp Strang is 186 acres of forest, fields and streams providing the backdrop to an exciting scouting experience which had over 7,500 nights camped on it in 2022. Ben Bacon was an early Eagle Scout of Troop 3 in Derby.

Bacon’s generous investment in our young people. As thrifty Scouts, the Housatonic Council will put these funds to good use to make needed capital improvements to Camp Strang which will allow us to serve even more youth and their families with innovative and modern programming that will prepare them for meaningful careers for tomorrow’s future and to become faithful leaders in their communities. Benjamin H. and Eugenia Y. Bacon’s gift will have a profound impact on Camp Strang and this investment will lengthen their shadow’s lasting role in elevating family’s lives.”
