Boaters met at O’Sullivan’s Island in Derby, and the Sunnyside boat ramp in Shelton Thursday morning before heading off on the last leg of their journey down the Housatonic River.
As part of the 70th anniversary for the Housatonic Valley Association, the source-to-sound boat trip has included educational events, and brought attention to the 149-mile river.
On hand Thursday were state Department of Environmental Protection commissioner Dan Esty, Mayor Mark Lauretti, and officials from the HVA and Aquarion, which donated new benches to Shelton as part of the event.
On the Derby side of the Housy, the Valley United Way, the City of Derby, the Valley Council of Governments and the Healthy Valley Committee of the Valley Council for Health and Human Services. Click here for the story from the United Way!
