It's Dog Licensing Season In Connecticut!

DERBY — The following information was submitted by Derby City/Town Clerk Marc Garofalo:

As you may know, it is Dog Licensing season in the State of Connecticut. We thank you for being a responsible dog owner. Pursuant to Section 22 – 337 through 22 – 359b of the Connecticut General Statutes, every dog must be licensed once it becomes six months old and licenses must be renewed annually. Current year dog licenses must be obtained by June 30, 2023 or late fees will apply.

Our office is pleased to offer many different options for licensing your dog. Our most convenient option is online, at:

www.hitslabs.com

ONLINE: Registration is free and licensing fees can be paid directly through the website with a credit or debit card. To register, create a user ID as a Pet Owner” and verify your e‑mail to set up a password. Once registered, you can log in and create a Pet Profile” for each dog. Return to the dashboard any time by clicking on Member” in the navigation menu and clicking on your user ID. Spay/neuter certificates and rabies vaccination records can be uploaded directly by clicking on each pet’s profile (if you are having trouble uploading documentation, please email any necessary documents to [email protected]). Click on License Your Animal” on the left column or select License” on your pet’s profile. Follow the prompts to enter your payment information and determine the necessary fees (fees paid online include postage). Please be sure to select Derby, CT from the drop-down list of Municipalities. Once processed, our office will issue your license and mail you your dog’s tag.

If you prefer to register by mail or in person, forms may also be submitted by:

3. DROP BOX: Please place forms and payment in a sealed envelope and drop it off in our secured drop box marked Depository” located in the brick wall outside of city hall facing the parking lot on Minerva Street.

REQUIREMENTS TO OBTAINNEW LICENSE / RENEW AN EXISTING LICENSE BY MAIL:

1. For NEW licenses, please complete the attached Connecticut Dog License Application form for each new dog.

If renewing an existing license, please include the Renewal Notice sent to you by our office.

2. Proof of current Rabies Vaccination Certificate with Expiration Date must be included with each application.

If renewing, please verify on your Renewal Notice that your current rabies certificate has not expired.

3. Proof of spaying or neutering obtained from your vet’s office must be included for NEW dogs, if applicable.

4. Check or money order payable to the City of Derby” or complete the attached Credit Card Authorization Form.

5. A self-addressed stamped envelope so we can mail you your tag once processed (regular mail only).

If you no longer own your dog or if your dog has passed away, please accept our sincere condolences, and notify our office in writing so we can update our records. Once processed, your license and new tag will be mailed to the address you provided. As always, please feel free to contact our office should you have any questions.
