Among the police calls in the Valley over the weekend: An Ansonia man was arrested on a cruelty to animal charge and a Shelton man had a minor motorcycle accident in Oxford.

Animal Charge
Ansonia police on Oct. 2 arrested Joseph Arthur Ukanowicz, 23, of Hull Street, on a warrant. He was charged with cruelty to animals, after animal control officers traced a roaming, malnourished and wounded dog to him, according to police.
The dog was found over the summer, and police applied for an arrest warrant for Ukanowicz.
The dog, a 4‑year-old male Doberman had wounds on its snout and legs, police said. It was found wandering on the west side of town. Animal control officials said the dog appeared to have been tied up.
The dog has been treated and found a new home.
Ukanowicz is scheduled to appear at Superior Court in Derby on Oct. 17.
Motorcycle Crash
A Shelton man was sent to St. Vincent’s Medical in Bridgeport with minor injuries after he hit a pothole and was partially thrown from his motorcycle at about 4 p.m. Oct. 2. The accident was reported on Silano Drive in Oxford. Police found no fault for the accident.
The 46-year-old man suffered cuts to his left leg, according to police.
