Hit and Run
Ansonia police arrested Dayeen Reza, 41, of Meadow Street in Seymour, after he allegedly hit a teenager crossing Beaver Street, then fled the scene.
The incident happened at about 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 6.
Reza allegedly stopped his car, got out and asked the 14-year-old girl if she was OK, according to Lt. Andrew Cota of the Ansonia Police Department.
“The person said ‘I’m not OK,’” Cota said. “Then he got back into his car and drove away.”
The girl and her two friends wrote down the man’s license plate and police were able to track him down.
Reza was charged with evading responsibility and failure to grant the right-of-way to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
He is free on a $500 bond, and is scheduled to appear at Superior Court in Derby on Aug. 19.
Motorcyclist Into Bushes
On Aug. 7, at about 6:30 p.m., police said a man riding a 2007 Harley Davidson crashed the motorcycle into bushes at the corner of Platt Street and Remer Street.
The man — Jeffrey Thomas Scanlon, 47 — lives on Remer Street, according to police.
When police arrived to investigate, Scanlon allegedly ran away, Cota said.
Police chased Scanlon, and placed him under arrest.
He was carrying an unloaded .25 caliber pistol, and was found to have no insurance, and no license for the motorcycle.
He was also over the legal alcohol limit, according to police.
Scanlon was charged with operating under the influence, failure to drive right, failure to possess insurance, operating a motorcycle without a license, carrying a gun without a permit and interfering with an officer.
He was held on $5,000 bond.
