Judge Orders No Contact With Water Contamination Victim

The Shelton man accused of pouring acid into his neighbor’s water supply was arraigned at Superior Court in Derby Monday morning.

Judge Burton Kaplan Monday told Edward Voccola, 52, of 98 Woodland Park, to have no contact with the victim.

Burton then continued the case until Sept. 29 with no other action.

Voccola declined comment outside the courthouse.

Police arrested Voccola last week after his neighbor claimed Voccola poured a chemical into the water fittings of another resident at the Woodland Mobile Home Park on Bridgeport Ave.

The person who called the cops videotaped the incident, according to Shelton police.

Based on the video, police obtained a search warrant for Voccola’s property and said they found several bottles of Muriatic acid and other chemicals in Voccola’s shed.

Police believe Voccola was dumping the acid into his neighbor’s water supply.

The victim had complained to the police in the past about Voccola dumping motor oil on his property.

That incident was already under investigation. The victim told police that alerting the authorities to the motor oil incident may have triggered Voccola to strike again.
