Services Wednesday For Ansonia’s Marian Meyer

A graveside service for Marian Meyer is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Pine Grove Cemetery at 15 Church St.

Meyer, 86, died Saturday from injuries suffered after being struck by a neighbor’s car on North Main Street just before 4 p.m. June 8.

Meyer’s neighbor was backing a 2004 Chrysler Sebring out of the driveway when it struck Meyer, who police think was retrieving her garbage cans.

Meyer was a lifelong Ansonia resident who was deeply devoted to her husband, Robert, who died seven years ago. She was born in the house on North Main Street where her son, Robert, now lives.

Robert Meyer said his mother was quiet and kept to herself.

She was very within herself. Her whole life was about her husband,” he said.

An autopsy revealed Meyer died as the result of a hip injury, said Lt. Wayne Williams of the Ansonia Police Department.

The medical examiner’s office has ruled the death an accident.

Williams said police are still investigating the incident. No charges have been filed.

Police have not released the name of the person driving the car.
