Katharine Matthies Foundation Gives Grants To The Valley

The Katharine Matthies Foundation (Bank of America Trustee) awarded 47 grants in to cities, towns, schools and organizations throughout the Valley. The money will be used to fund various projects.

The total amount of money awarded was $666,615.

Grant recipients for 2012 are listed below:

Project: To purchase a stretcher.

2. Ansonia School Readiness Council — -$25,000.
Project: Ansonia’s community plan for early childhood success, general operations and oversight of community plan.

Project: General operations of the Assumption School.

4. Center for Domestic Violence Services at BHcare — -$5,944.
Project: Fire alarm system for safe house.

5. Star Bethlehem Church — -$3,000.
Project: Annual Thanksgiving basket drive.

6. The Salvation Army — -$20,000.
Project: Community food programs in Ansonia, Derby, Shelton and Oxford.

7. Town of Beacon Falls — -$15,000.
Project: Toddler/preschool playground for the Pent Road Recreational Complex.

8. Town of Beacon Falls, Beacon Falls Senior Center — -$4,000.
Project: Purchase new Wii computer equipment and dinnerware for the Beacon Falls Senior Center.

9. Town of Beacon Falls — -$2,400.
Project: Purchase trash receptacles for the recently completed Streetscape Enhancement Project on Main Street.

10. Derby Discovery Collaborative — -$25,000.
Project: Derby comprehensive plan.

11. Derby Historical Society — -$44,825.
Project: Restoration work to the exterior of the David Humphreys House.

12. Father McKenna St. Vincent De Paul Shoppe of Shelton — -$5,500.
Project: Heating system repair.
