Project Updates

As part of the design process for the sewer relocation being made necessary by the dam removal project, survey and geo-technical investigations are anticipated to be underway in Seymour in coming months. Contractors are expected to focus survey work and soil boring along Route 115 and in the northern reach of the canal between Kinneytown Dam and the canal reservoir (Coe Pond). To facilitate this work, water levels in Coe Pond and the canal may be temporarily raised to allow for a barge to navigate the canal.

Our project team has recently submitted a very extensive grant application to NOAA requesting additional funding for the dam removal project. The application summarizes progress achieved over the last two years and forecasts the next steps including design, permitting, decommissioning, construction, and restoration associated with the removal. As always, we encourage public input throughout the entire dam removal process. You may leave feedback, comments, and ask questions via our outreach form here.

Thank you for your continued interest in this project! We hope you will join us on March 24.

Sincerely,

The Kinneytown Project Team
