Kitchen Fire In Ansonia

UPDATE: The Ansonia Fire Marshal’s office determined the fire was an accident caused by unattended cooking in the kitchen.

A kitchen was damaged during a fire at 32 Hillside Ave. Saturday night.

According to Assistant Fire Chief Michael Eheman, firefighters responded to a call at 9:52 p.m. When they arrived, a woman was standing outside who told them she left her house briefly and returned to find her kitchen engulfed.

There were no injuries reported.

Firefighters broke several windows and a skylight in order to allow the smoke in the house to dissipate.

The kitchen was destroyed and the family room took on some smoke damage.

Four fire trucks and vehicles responded to the scene, as did the Rapid Intervention Team from Derby, as they do for all structural fires.
