SEYMOUR – A 46-year-old man was killed and a woman was injured after a stabbing inside a house on Ajellos Farm Road Sunday night.

The victim was identified as Rhahzhem Turner, of Port Chester, N.Y.

The woman’s name was not released. She was taken to Griffin Hospital for what police called“non life threatening injuries.”

Police identified the suspect in the crime as Chris Stanley, 33, of Mount Vernon, N.Y. He was arrested at the scene and charged with murder and first-degree assault, according to a press release from the Seymour Police Department.

Police were called to 22 Ajellos Farm Road at about 11:42 p.m. Sunday (Jan. 19).

The woman at that address reported that she had been stabbed in the leg. Police entered the home and administered first aid to the woman. Turner had been stabbed in the chest, according to emergency radio dispatches.

Stanley is being held on a $1.5 million dollar bond. His arraignment date is set for Tuesday (Jan. 21) at Superior Court in Derby.

Seymour Police Chief John Bucherati described the crime as a domestic violence incident that happened in front of several witnesses. He did not describe the specific relationship between the suspect or the two victims.

There were four children in the house but none were involved or saw what happened, police said. There were two to three other adults in the house, in addition to the suspect and his two victims.

The chief said police responded to calls for service from the address 12 times in 2024. Stanley had previously been arrested at the address on Feb. 18, 2024, when he was charged with breach of peace and third degree assault. Online court records show that he was ordered to be rearrested on June 28, 2024.

The investigation was still active Monday (Jan. 20). Police obtained a warrant to search the residence for evidence connected to the crime.

Our condolences are with the family and friends of the victims,” Chief Bucherati said.

Public records show the single-family, 4,400 square-foot house was purchased in 2022 for $685,000. Tax records list the owner as a family trust: Independent Thinkers Private Family Trust.”
