Latest Census Shows Valley Growing More Diverse

The CT Post has a nice overview this morning looking at the influx of minorities into the Valley.

The article is based on Connecticut’s new Census numbers, which were released Wednesday.

The Post states:

The change in diversity was also found in the white population — which is on the decline in all Valley communities, including Shelton and Ansonia. Shelton saw the largest increase in its black population — from 1.1 to 2.4 percent — while Ansonia’s Hispanic population saw the largest jump, from 7.4 to 16.7 percent.

For some additional information on the Valley’s growing Hispanic population, check out this article we published in May.

Oxford had the highest overall growth of any community in the state, from 9,821 to 12,663, a 29.1 percent increase, according to the Post.
